glass
by merle kannus

Although my recent interests have shifted more towards photography and film-making, I still identify myself as a glass artist. Here are some of my glass pieces and the stories behind them.

Miralda's House (1998) is a choice of objects from the imaginary house of an imaginary female. She is quite solitary, fragile, shy, and reluctant to throw away old things.

Heavy Estonian Air
(2001 - 2002) is a bunch of illustrations for the title phrase and its possible meanings; its origins are in the tag that our aviation company applies to luggage.

150 km to the Sea
(1998-2002) is a series of free-hanging stained glass pieces that were exhibited at "Facing the Sea" 2002 at the Marine Museum.

Glass sculptures and installations from different times and places: Spring in the Slum, Project 2001, North Pole, L.O.V.E. and others

Product designs for the Tarbeklaas factory/Lorup collection were created in 2001.

Stained glass in various domestic settings.
